Ahh choo!! Sick again. Ahh choo!!
Will, baby George and I are all sick with colds. Ahh choo! Gone are the days when I could enjoy a day lying in bed when I was sick. I have a toddler now and even though he is sick there’s no resting to be had around here. This lemon, honey and ginger drink is like a big warm hug, just what you need to get you through the day when you’re not feeling too swell but chasing a toddler around! Why do I think it’s so good?
It’s good for you – the lemon is full of vitamin C, manuka honey has antibacterial properties, and the ginger has many cold fighting properties.
It’s soothing – the drink feels better on a sore throat than any throat lozenge.
It clears your nose and eases you chest – the steam is great at helping to clear your nose and chest.
It’s natural – any pregnant or breastfeeding mums out there, this is for you! This is a great alternative when you don’t want to or can’t take cold and flu medication.
So if you’re feeling under the weather like me, make sure you have lots of these drinks, wrap up warm and rest as much as you can. See you all again soon when I’m feeling better.
o Kate (sorry no kisses today, just a big hug, I don’t want you catching my cold. Ahh choo!)
Soothing Lemon, Honey and Ginger Drink
- 1 slice of lemon
- 1 tsp honey preferably manuka
- 1 slice ginger
- 1 cup boiling water
Boil the kettle. While you are waiting for the kettle, slice the lemon and ginger. Place the slices of lemon and ginger in a mug with a teaspoon of honey.
Poor over boiling water and stir.
Now wrap up in your favourite pyjamas, big woolly socks and a snuggly blanket on the couch with your mug.
While you are waiting for the drink to be cool enough to sip, hold the mug up to your face and breath in all the warm steam - this will help clear and sooth your blocked nose and chest. Ahhhh!
